Winter Travis Competition Report (2025–2026)

Report prepared by The Handicap Secretary Bilal Hashmi.

The Winter Travis Competition once again proved to be one of Hedsor Golf Club’s most engaging and strategic formats, running over 24 weeks from 6th September 2025 through to Friday 20th March 2026.

Played as a Stableford-based competition, the Travis format challenges not only golfing ability but also judgement and timing. Players must nominate a 9-hole round before teeing off, with a maximum of 10 submitted rounds, of which the best 8 scores count toward their final total.

Final Standings:
1. Winner – Jules Pearce (159 points)
2. Runner-Up – Adam Johnson (AJ) (151 points)
3. Third Place – Bilal Hashmi (145 points)

Understanding the Challenge:
In Travis, performance alone isn’t enough – selection is key. With players typically matching their handicap only once every 4–5 rounds, choosing when to nominate a round plays a crucial role.

Averaging close to 18 points per submitted round is considered a strong performance, making this year’s top scores particularly impressive.

Jules Pearce – A Flying Start Secures the Title:
Jules set the tone early with scores of 22, 23 and 24 in his first four submissions. Despite a mid-season dip, he recovered strongly to finish on 159 points.
Handicap: 26.8 → 23.2 (low 23.1)

Adam Johnson (AJ) – Consistency Pays Off:
AJ produced a consistent run with scores of 24, 20 and 21, avoiding any major dips to finish on 151 points.
Handicap: 16.4 → 16.8 (low 15.7)

the

Bilal Hashmi – Strong Finish After Slow Start:
Bilal began with scores of 9 and 10 but recovered impressively with two 21s later in the competition, finishing on 145 points.
Handicap: 19.9 → 15.6 (low 15.6)

Final Thoughts:
The Winter Travis continues to highlight not just golfing skill, but also strategy, discipline and resilience. Congratulations to Jules Pearce on a deserved victory, and to all participants who embraced the unique challenge of the format.
