Hedsor Golf Club secured a well-earned 3.5 – 2.5 victory in our away Four Ball Better Ball fixture against Huntswood in what turned out to be a thrilling and closely fought encounter.
Each of the six matches featured balanced pairings based on handicap, setting the stage for a competitive day. With the tie hanging in the balance, it all came down to the final match on the final hole. The Hedsor pair of Rash and Bilal mounted a rearguard action, defending a two-hole lead on the back 9 to clinch victory on the 18th green. Their 2-up win sealed the overall match and capped off a memorable performance, with Rash earning special praise for using his handicap shots to great effect under pressure.
Other pairings fought hard across the course. One match with AJ and Greg, saw Hedsor in control early, cruising to a 6-4 victory. Special mentions go to AJ, described as the standout player in his pairing, and to Captain Jay, whose team selections were credited for their effectiveness. The spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship was evident throughout the day.
Off the course, there was more good news: contributions from Huntswood players were successfully added to the Captain’s Charity fund, proving that the generosity extended beyond the fairways—even if it took some coaxing to get the funds into the jar!
As one member aptly put it: “Not sure what was more difficult—winning the match or getting the money into the charity jar!”
The match was played in great spirits, and members also commented on how well the condition of our home course compared to others—another point of pride for Hedsor.
Congratulations to all who played and supported. Let’s carry this momentum forward into our future fixtures.
