Hedsor Golf Club’s Anniversary Day celebration brought together a strong field for an exciting day of golf, camaraderie, and celebration. Held on Sunday 18th May, the event featured nine teams of three players each, competing in an aggregate Stableford format. The weather held up beautifully, and the competition delivered just as much sunshine as the skies.
Winning Teams
- Team C – Lesley Tingay, Dave Tingay, Martin Croucher
Score: 113 points
This trio demonstrated excellent consistency and collaboration across their round. Their total secured the top spot on the leaderboard.
- Team D – Brian Benzie, Tom Clayton, Vivien Benzie
Score: 112 points
In a dramatic twist, it was later discovered that Vivien Benzie’s score had been misread—what appeared to be a 0 was actually a 6, awarding her 2 extra Stableford points. This should have placed Team D in first place with 114 points. However, in a fine show of sportsmanship, the team graciously allowed the original result to stand. As Brian—Vivien’s husband and her marker—was the source of the oversight, he has been “fined” with a month’s worth of washing up.
- Team J – Stevan Wing, Keith Simms, Gary Luxon
Score: 111 points
A strong effort that placed them just two points shy of the top, rounding out the podium.
Individual Winner
Martin Croucher stood out not only in the team competition but also as the Individual Winner. His Stableford score was so impressive that it triggered an exceptional handicap adjustment. A remarkable round that left everyone applauding!
Prize Giving
Prizes for both the team event and the individual performance were presented by Hedsor’s professional golfer, Stewart, adding a special touch to an already festive occasion.
Additional Highlights
- 12 out of 27 players scored above 36 Stableford points, marking an outstanding level of play across the board.
- A delicious cold buffet was served during the prize giving, and Martin Croucher was again praised—this time for his excellent food selection. From golf to gastronomy, Martin delivered on every front!
In Closing
The Anniversary Day was not only a celebration of our Club’s enduring spirit but also a showcase of the great sportsmanship, humour, and camaraderie that make Hedsor Golf Club what it is. Congratulations to all participants, and here’s to another year of brilliant golf and unforgettable memories.
