The first major day in our golf club calendar at Hedsor Golf Club is the Captains’ Handover Day and it seldom fails to deliver some surprises. Some great, competitive golf and in my case, this year, some less than inspiring scoring! But hey, that’s golf!

This year the weather behaved itself and the turnout was impressive.

As usual, we had two competitions running concurrently: a team Stableford and an individual Stableford.

This year’s team prize was secured by Ian Daly, Tom Clayton and new member Jules Pearce who put in an impressive performance to secure the victory.

It’s common for the winning team to also include the individual prize winner, and this year is no exception. Tom Clayton scoring and noteworthy 39 points, narrowly beating former captain Howard James by one point to lift the trophy. Nearest the pin prizes went to Howard James and Adam Johnson (AJ). Congratulations to all of our winners.

I’d like to thank everyone for coming out and sharing in my first official day as your new captain. It’s an honour to have been chosen to lead the club this year. I’d also like to thank our outgoing captain, Den Reed and his second in command, Greg Lee for their hard work and leadership over the past twelve months. Special thanks, as always goes to the greenkeeping staff Tim, Mick and Sam for their hard work in all weathers, enabling us to get out there in pursuit of that elusive, perfect round!

I look forward to seeing you all on the course and in the clubhouse over the coming year.
