The match began under calm skies but ended in wind and rain, testing the adaptability of both teams. Hedsor’s players rose to the challenge, delivering clutch performances and showcasing true team spirit.

🔍 Match Highlights

  • Jay & Mick vs Steve & Ian (2–0) After going one down early, Jay responded with birdies on 6 and 12. Despite battling a knee injury, he held firm while Mick’s clutch putting on 11, 16, and 17 proved decisive. Mick’s par on 18 sealed the win.
  • Sue & Andy vs James & Malcolm (2–1) Down after three holes, Sue kept the pair in contention while Andy found form on the back nine. They took the lead on 11, and Andy holed the winning putt on 17.
  • Alan & Peter vs Kevin & Rick (2–1) All square at the turn despite Kevin’s impressive front-nine 38. The Hedsor pair stayed steady as Kevin’s form dipped, clinching the win on 17.
  • Trevor & Ray vs Alan & Ray (2–1) A close-fought match decided by putting. Huntswood’s pair struggled on the greens, allowing Trevor and Ray to edge ahead and secure victory on the 17th.
  • Merv & Paul vs Fred & Chris (4–3) A dominant performance in tough conditions. As wind and rain set in, Merv and Paul outplayed their opponents with composed shot-making and confident putting.
  • Bilal & Rash vs Graham & Ian (Halved) Trailing by three at the turn, Bilal and Rash mounted a comeback, winning the first four holes on the back nine. Graham’s golden ferret on 15 swung momentum back. Rash birdied 17 to level the match, and after Ian holed a clutch 20ft par putt on 18, Bilal’s birdie slid past—match halved.

🗣️ Captain’s Reflections

Jay, Hedsor Captain: “Every pairing worked for us today. The result perhaps does not reflect how close five of the matches were.”

Steve, Huntswood Captain: “We would like to thank Hedsor for their hospitality. The course was in great condition. We struggled with the speed of the greens. They played somewhat slower than we are used to. However, they are some of the best we’ve played on this year. We are looking forward to next year’s return matches.”

🎯 Final Score
