First Tee preparation

Match Highlights

Match 1: Trevor & Sue vs Heather & Ken (Match Halved)
An exhilarating match of momentum swings. Hedsor were 3 up after 4 holes, only to be reeled in to all square at the turn. Eton edged ahead by the 16th, but Sue drained a clutch 20-foot putt on 17 to level the match again. The 18th was halved, resulting in a hard-earned draw.

Match 2: Merv & Bilal vs Peter & Winnie (Eton Win 1 up)
This was a close-fought battle from the first tee to the final green. While the match remained tight throughout, Winnie’s sharp short game and clinical use of her handicap shots on holes 16, 17, and 18 edged Eton ahead for a narrow victory. A great game played in the right spirit.

Match 3: AJ & Robert vs Clive & Cathy (Hedsor Win 2&1)
On the 10th hole, Hedsor went 4 ahead—seemingly cruising. But then came a collapse worthy of an England cricket team, three holes dropped in succession on 11, 12, and 13. With the lead cut to just 1, the ship was steadied on 14 and 15 with crucial halves. Then, cometh the hour, cometh the Hope. Robert launched a drive onto the front of the 16th green. The task seemed simple—get the putt close. But the golf gods intervened, and the ball stopped halfway. Left with a knee-trembling 8-footer to win the hole, Robert sent a tentative, wobbly putt toward the hole. After five heart-stopping loops around the cup, it finally dropped in to restore the 2-up lead. The 17th was halved, sealing a gritty 2&1 victory for Hedsor.

Clive and Cathy were superb, however, unluckily for Eton, Cathy twice hit the flag and bounced out on the 16th (to lose the hole) and 17th to halve the hole, allowing Hedsor to win 2&1.

Match 4: Den & Ray vs Mick & Don (Hedsor Win 8&7)
Den and Ray turned in the most dominant result of the day. The Hedsor pair were in fine form, 6 up through 9, having not conceded a single hole. They went on to win the 10th and 11th, closing out the match 8&7. Their consistency and teamwork proved too much for Eton this time.

Match 5: Peter & Greg vs Rick & Jacqueline (Match Halved)
After going 2 up early, Peter and Greg were pegged back as Eton took four holes on the bounce to go 2 up at the turn. The back nine was tense and tightly contested, with most holes halved. Hedsor found their rhythm again late, winning the final two holes with gross pars to halve the match. A superb contest in a friendly and sporting atmosphere.

Post-Match Hospitality
The post-match buffet, expertly prepared and laid out by Sue and Andy, was widely praised by both teams. As always, Sue’s attention to detail and hosting finesse ensured everyone was well-fed and relaxed after their rounds. A true Hedsor highlight!

Thanks and Closing Words
The day was rounded off with warm words of thanks and future invitations. A big thank you to Sue from Hedsor and Heather from Eton for coordinating the fixture so smoothly.

All in all, a fantastic day of golf, great food, sportsmanship, and Hedsor hospitality. We look forward to continuing this fixture next season—and hopefully extending our winning form!
